How to Activate Mobile Hotspot when Connected to Bluetooth Device

In today's connected world, having a mobile hotspot can be incredibly useful. It allows you to share your mobile data plan with other devices, such as laptops or tablets, and stay connected even when you're on the go. However, manually turning on the mobile hotspot each time you want to use it can be a hassle.

In this blog post, we will guide you on how to automate the activation of your mobile hotspot when a specific Bluetooth device is connected. By following these simple steps, you can save time and ensure that your hotspot is always ready to use.

Step 1: Set Up Your Mobile Hotspot

The first step is to set up and configure your mobile hotspot on your device. Go to the settings menu and navigate to the "Hotspot" or "Tethering" section. Enable the mobile hotspot and set a secure password to protect your connection.

Step 2: Pair Your Bluetooth Device

Next, pair your Bluetooth device with your smartphone or tablet. Go to the Bluetooth settings and search for available devices. Once you find the device you want to connect to, tap on it to initiate the pairing process. Follow any on-screen prompts to complete the pairing process.

Step 3: Install Tasker App (Android Only)

If you have an Android device, you can use the Tasker app to automate the process of activating your mobile hotspot when a specific Bluetooth device is connected. Tasker is a powerful automation app that allows you to create custom tasks and profiles based on various triggers.

Open the Google Play Store and search for "Tasker". Install the app on your device and open it. Grant any necessary permissions for the app to work correctly.

Step 4: Create a Task

In Tasker, tap on the "+" icon to create a new task. Give your task a name, such as "Enable Mobile Hotspot".

Tap on the "+" icon again to add an action. Search for "Hotspot" and select the "Hotspot On" action. This action will turn on your mobile hotspot.

Step 5: Create a Profile

Now, we need to create a profile that will trigger our task when the Bluetooth device is connected. Tap on the "Profiles" tab in Tasker and then tap on the "+" icon to create a new profile.

Choose "State" as the context for your profile.

Tap on "Net" and select "Bluetooth Connected". In the configuration window, tap on the magnifying glass icon next to "Name". Choose the Bluetooth device you paired earlier.

Step 6: Link the Task to the Profile

Once you've created the profile, Tasker will prompt you to link a task to it. Select the task you created in step 4, which should be named "Enable Mobile Hotspot".

Step 7: Test the Automation

That's it! Now, whenever your Bluetooth device is connected to your smartphone or tablet, Tasker will automatically turn on your mobile hotspot.

You can test the automation by disconnecting and reconnecting your Bluetooth device. Make sure the mobile hotspot is turned off before you initiate the connection. If everything is set up correctly, your hotspot should activate within a few seconds of connecting to the Bluetooth device.
