As public pressure mounts in the aftermath of high-profile police brutality cases, the refrain "We need body cameras!" is often heard. While the use of body cameras in law enforcement is increasing, there is a faction within the police force that resists this change. Is it because they have something to hide, or do the reasons run deeper?

And although transparency fosters trust, it is also essential to address the concerns from within the law enforcement agencies, to ensure that the implementation of body cameras is done in a manner that respects all parties involved. Only then can we progress towards a future of principled policing, where everyone under the law and those enforcing it feel seen and understood.
